Requirements for registration of an NGO in Kenya

The following are required to register an NGO:

Three proposed names for the NGO in the order of priority

Charitable objectives of the proposed NGO

Particulars, contacts and addresses of 3 top officials i.e. Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Two Board Members summing up to 5 members

Information stating the Organization’s contact person.

Copies of Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Pins, ID copies or passports for all Board members.

Two coloured Passport size photos (size2*2) of all Board members taken on a white background

Digital signatures of all Board members written in blue ink and on a white background.

Scanned copies of valid Police Clearance Certificates not less than 6 months old.

Scanned copy of the draft Proposed Constitution of the Organization which is provided by the NGO Board; a prototype.The proposed Constitution has to be signed by all Board members on the execution page and at least one proposed official on each and every page.

A proposed annual budget.

Scanned minutes authorizing filling of the application with a specific agenda and resolution to register the organization with the NGO Board. The elections of interim officials MUST form part of the agenda.

The head office and postal address of the organization.
